Anesthesia for Outpatient Surgery: What to Expect

On the day of your procedure, your anesthesia provider will be available at all times to ensure your comfort and safety. It is of utmost importance to our team that you receive all of the information you need to feel at ease.

Before your surgery begins, you will meet with your anesthesiologist to discuss your medical history and to thoroughly review the outpatient anesthesia plan.  At this time, your anesthesiologist will answer any questions that you have.  Once you feel comfortable and informed, you will sign an anesthesia consent form.

During the procedure, your anesthesia team will be there in the operating room, constantly monitoring your condition in order to maintain your comfort and safety from start to finish.

Once the surgery is complete, you will be moved to a recovery room where you will continue to be monitored.  Your team will be available to tend to your comfort and any medical issues.  Once the monitoring period is complete, you will be discharged into the care of a responsible adult who will provide transportation home.  You will be given detailed patient care instructions to follow for recovering in the comfort of your own home.

Your anesthesiologist will be available to answer any post-operative questions that may arise.
