2017 Patients Quality and Safety Award
Our cardiac anesthesia team, cardiac surgical team, and postoperative nursing staff recently received the 2017 Patients Quality and Safety Award from the University of Pennsylvania Health System for their “On Table Extubation” program at Pennsylvania Hospital. This program improved patient outcomes, decreased hospital stays, and substantially reduced healthcare costs for heart patients. Our cardiac anesthesia team was invited to present the study at the 55th Annual Society of Thoracic Surgeon’s Meeting in San Diego, CA, and the study placed in the top 10 at the Health Care Improvement Foundation's 2018 Delaware Valley Patient Safety and Quality Awards.
